As of this May, the Earth’s atmosphere has more carbon dioxide than ever recorded, according to two separate data analyses by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Scientists started accurately measuring atmospheric CO2 from atop the Mauna Loa volcano nearly 60 years ago; last month’s readings show that levels are 50 percent higher than pre-industrial estimates at 419 parts per million. Some experts think they may be the highest numbers the planet has seen in more than three million years....

Since then, the status of the mission–and the conditions of the spacecraft–have remained somewhat mysterious to American scientists, but gradually information is funneling back. In December 2015, we learned the Yutu rover discovered a new kind of moon rock. Now, China has made the data sent home by the two spacecraft open to the public, and Emily Lakdawalla from the Planetary Society (a non-profit organization that promotes space exploration) has made it more easily accessible by putting the images on a faster server and labeling them in English....

. TSC Beijing, a Chinese titanium manufacturer, successfully 3D printed a titanium fuselage central box for its high-speed aircraft, which cuts production time from two years down to just six months. TSC used the 3D laser printer TSC-S4510 (one of the world’s largest 3D printers) to print the fuselage, within an error tolerance of less than 0.5mm. The intended aircraft was identified only as a “high-speed” (read: hypersonic) aircraft. Given its narrow wing roots, and 23-foot total length, it is likely a hypersonic UAV....

While living so close to human cities and towns, coyotes have adapted to consume garbage, ornamental fruits, and even domestic pets. It leaves many pet parents, especially those with outdoor cats, wondering how to best protect domesticated animals from becoming a coyote’s next snack. Research has found that coyotes in certain places have a higher chance of going after pets as meals. Los Angeles coyotes have a diet that consists of up to 20 percent from cats, despite studies from other cities that say cats only comprise less than 5 percent of coyote diet....

What Is NFC? NFC is a short-range, low-power communications protocol between two devices. The new federal action creates a new category of OTC hearing aids that allows for patients with perceived mild to moderate hearing impairment to buy the devices directly from a store or pharmacy without a doctor’s visit or fitting adjustment. Consumers will see OTC hearing aids in stores and online retailers as soon as mid-October, when the rule takes effect.
